During the day, this spooky pumpkin's solar panel charges its battery by way of the conversion of solar energy into electricity.  At night, the newly-charged battery automatically powers on the LED light inside.  The lasting power of the light before it needs recharging depends on the amount of energy stored during the day; therefore, geographic location, weather conditions and seasonal lighting availability all have an impact on how long the pumpkin stays lit at night.  If, on any given day, the pumpkin is charged for ~six hours under full sunlight and otherwise normal conditions, the lights should then last six to eight hours the proceeding night.
