The City of Springfield Utilities Department will be performing underground maintenance work and water service will be interrupted for approximately 1 hour beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 16 for addresses on School Avenue from 6th Plaza to 8th Street and on 8th Street from School Avenue to Nottingham Drive.

A precautionary water boil notice will be in effect after water service is restored. This precautionary boil water notice will be rescinded once satisfactory bacteriological water test results are received which may take up to three days.

Boil Water Alert Issued for Tallahassee, Florida

The city of Tallahassee issued a boil-water notice Friday for 8,000 customers in northwest Tallahassee after disinfection levels within the water system that serves that area fell below allowable levels, said Bill Behenna, a city spokesman.

Details of a boil water notice should be released later today following a water main break Monday afternoon in Cape Coral.

The break initially closed all lanes of Nicholas Parkway near Southeast 4th Avenue.

The break was repaired and all lanes were reopened Monday evening.

Boil Water Alerts Increase in Florida as Policy Changes

PALM BAY, Florida — Boil-water alerts like the one that affected about 7,000 Palm Bay households over the weekend are becoming more common, as a result of stricter guidelines the city implemented.

Palm Bay’s water system issued 37 alerts during 2008 and the first six weeks of 2009. That’s up from five in 2007. The alerts went out for everything from scheduled maintenance on pipes and low pressure in the system to water main breaks like the one that occurred Saturday in Palm Bay. [...]
