Conway, Arkansas Fluoridating Water Supply Again
CONWAY, Arkansas – Fluoride is again being added to drinking water in the city of Conway after more than a year without it.
City officials told the Log Cabin Democrat that they began adding fluoride to the drinking water at 5:45 p.m. Friday. A water line failure at a Conway Corp. treatment plant in October 2007 put its fluoride injection port out of service.
Instead of immediately repairing the line, the Conway Corp. stopped adding the compound without telling customers. About six months ago, customers learned about the lack of fluoride in the water, causing an outcry.
Conway Corporation had been putting fluoride in its water since the 1960s to help prevent tooth decay.
