The San Diego Water Department says a water main break had left residents in Torrey Pines, Del Mar and Carmel Valley without water service for several hours early this morning. The main has since been fixed.
Water managers say all tap water used for drinking or food preparation in the affected areas should be boiled for at least one minute and cooled before using.
The order could remain in effect for up to three days.
The cause of the break is under investigation.
